Nitish Rana has been in domestic cricket for a while now. The 29-year-old played for Delhi in first class, List A, and T20s. Over the years, Rana has made a name for himself in domestic cricket, especially in T20s. The Southpaw is known for his striking in the middle overs phase. Rana is also a very useful spinner with the ball, who can provide crucial breakthroughs.

In 2021, Rana got his maiden call-up for the Indian team. Rana played one ODI and a couple of T20Is in the series against Sri Lanka. In ODI, Rana scored 7 runs in 14 balls. In two T20Is, Rana scored 15 runs at a batting average of 7.5, at a batting strike rate of 55.5. As India’s tour of Sri Lanka did not go well for Rana, he did not get a chance in the Indian team after the series.

Rana has decent stats in domestic cricket. In 44 matches in FC Cricket, Rana has 2507 runs at a batting average of 39.8, at a batting strike rate of 57.4. In 73 List A matches, Rana has scored 2209 runs at a batting average of 38.1, at a batting strike rate of 84.6. In T20 cricket, Rana has 4275 runs in 175 matches, at an average of 29.1, at a strike rate of 136.7.

Nitish Rana requests for an NOC from Delhi cricket association

The best of Rana has come in the Indian Premier League without a doubt. In 105 matches in IPL, Rana has 2594 runs at a batting average of 28.8, at a good strike rate of 135.2. In 2017, Rana played a key role in Mumbai Indians winning the title. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Rana was named the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2023 season of IPL.

After a bad season for Delhi, Rana was dropped from the red ball team of Delhi, which did not go well with the 29-year-old. Rana is also reportedly not happy with Yash Dhull being named the captain of the team. As a result, Rana applied for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Delhi cricket association to change his base elsewhere.
