‘Innings of highest order’ – Fans react as Yash Dhull plays brilliant knock of 66 in second Semi Final of ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2023

The ACC Emerging Asia Cup has been throughout been a decent tournament considering the likes of various exciting young talents which somewhere will be seen representing the major sides in the upcoming time. The tournament has now entered its business phase with the Semi Final phase started on July 21 with Pakistan A taking on Sri Lanka A in the first Semi-Final and India A playing against Bangladesh A in the second Semi-Final.

In the second Semi-Final, it was Bangladesh A who won the toss and opted to bowl first against the Indian team. The Indian team started off cautiously with both the openers Sai Sudharsan and Abhishek Sharma playing on cautiously before the centurion from the previous match Sudharan (21) knicked one to the wicketkeeper. After that wicket, India never looked in control of the innings as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals with the batter converting the start they get.

But the captain of the India A team looked to have a different idea as he steadied the ship and helped India register a decent score of 211 in 49.1 overs. Perseverance, determination, and courage were among the main highlights of his innings. Dhull came into bat when India were tottering at 74/2 and played a captain’s inning and was the last man to dismiss.

Despite, scoring a brilliant 66 runs from 85 runs the Indian scored a below-par score and would be needing some exceptional bowling efforts to defend this total. The winner of this semi-final will be facing Pakistan in the finals of the ACC Emerging Asia Cup final. The flamboyant right-handed batter from Delhi has gone on to score 195 in the four innings that the 20-year-old batter has played in the tournament so far with one hundred as well as one half-century to his name. In first Semi-Final, Pakistan A successfully defended the target of 323 runs  against the host Sri Lanka to reach the finals on second consecutive occasion.
