In the 28th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by four wickets to register their first victory of the season. After five back-to-back defeats, David Warner and the company finally made a comeback on the winning track. Riding on Warner’s half-century and Ishant Sharma’s amazing bowling performance DC tasted the win after days. Meanwhile, Apple CEO Tim Cook made a surprise visit to the stadium to watch the game.
Cook who is in India to open Apple’s first store in Mumbai and Delhi was accompanied by Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja. Notably, this is Cook’s second visit to an IPL game. Earlier, in 2016 he paid a visit to the league as he watched a game and also interacted with the broadcasters.

Meanwhile, the game started an hour late because of the rain. After the rain stopped Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bowl first. Senior India pacer Ishant Sharma who was making his comeback in the league after 700+ days utilised the overcast conditions and clinched back-to-back wickets.
KKR crumbled against DC’s pace attack
Starting with two overseas openers KKR lost wickets at regular intervals. They were unable to play the pace bowlers and eventually failed to build partnerships. Apart from opener Jason Roy no one looked comfortable and threw their wickets. Roy in his innings scored 43 runs off 39 balls.
In the end, Andre Russell hammered back-to-back sixes in the last over to help KKR to finish with 127-10 in 20 overs.
Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav clinched two wickets each for DC. Chasing 128 Delhi got a comfortable start as skipper Warner hammered an amazing half-century. After this victory, Delhi finally got the way of winning and will be keen to continue it. On the other hand, KKR needs to find a way to get back on the winning track.
