Delhi Capitals met Kolkata Knight Riders met each other in the 28th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. Ahead of the game, the home team, DC was looking for their first win of the ongoing season. Apparently, they lost their first five games of the tournament. On the other hand, after their last ball win against Gujarat Titans, KKR lost their previous two games.

Meanwhile, in the game, the Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first. After all, the game started after a rain delay but no overs were lost. The Knight Riders had a poor day with the bat as they were bowled out for 127 runs in 20 overs. For India’s national capital-based side, Ishant Sharma, playing his first game, took two wickets alongside the likes of Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel.

Mukesh Kumar took one wicket too. Only three KKR batters, Jason Roy, Mandeep Singh, and Andre Russell could cross the double-digit mark.

Delhi Capitals started with an intent to win big but might have to wait for another game

In reply, the 2020 finalists got off to a quick start as they were looking to improve their Net Run Rate. It was (-1.488) ahead of the game. Meanwhile, the likes of skipper David Warner and Prithvi Shaw scored 44 runs in the first five overs, losing the wicket of the latter. After the powerplay, the likes of Mitchell Marsh and Phil Salt lost their wickets cheaply to Nitish Rana and Anukul Roy respectively.

At 68/3, the likes of Warner and Manish Pandey took the chase ahead with the former scoring the fourth fifty of the season. However, while trying to increase the scoring rate, the left-hander, Warner was trapped lbw by Varun Chakravarthy in the 14th over. After losing three wickets, the scoring rate of the team also nose-dived.

In the end, Axar Patel played a helping hand to take the team over the line by four wickets and four balls in hand.
