Delhi Capitals opening batter Prithvi Shaw is in major trouble as he has been booked for molestation by Sapna Gill. For the unversed, the latter is a social media influencer and an actress in Bhojpuri films. On February 16 this year, she and her friend, Shobhit Thakur were believed to have approached Shaw for a selfie. After complying for the first time, the right-hander is said to have denied the next time.
This allegedly led to Gill and Thakur smashing Shaw’s car with the cricketer’s friend, Ashish Yadav driving it. Yadav went to file a complaint and Gill and Thakur were arrested. After a few days, they filed a case against the 2018 U19 World Cup-winning captain. Gill alleges that Shaw molested her. The former’s lawyer Ali Kashif Khan has said that the cricketer has been booked under sections 354, 509, and 324 of the IPC.
“Thakur, who is just a teenager, was unaware of the brutality of the drunken mob. Thakur was helpless and was unable to defend himself. Hence, she (Gill) intervened and entered the fray trying to stop Shaw and others from further harming and injuring Thakur,” as per the complaint.
When Ms Gill was attempting to shield Mr Thakur from the assault, Mr Shaw touched her inappropriately and pushed her away, it said.
Prithvi Shaw should learn from his mistakes: Virender Sehwag
On the other hand, Mumbaikar has also struggled in the ongoing IPL 2023. He hasn’t been able to score much in the first game for the DC. Meanwhile, former India opener Virender Sehwag has said that Shaw must learn from his mistakes.
“He has been dismissed playing those kinds of shots so many times… but he should also learn from his mistakes, right?,” Sehwag said. “Look at Shubman Gill, who played U-19 cricket with him and is now playing Test, ODIs, and T20Is for India, but Shaw is still struggling in IPL. He has to make the most of this IPL platform and score runs.”
