In the ongoing third ODI between India and New Zealand, the Kiwi pacer Jacob Duffy made a record to forget. He has become the third player to concede 100 runs in an ODI game. Previously, Martin Sneeden (1983) and Tim Southee (2009) did it against England and India respectively. In both games, the Blackcaps lost by a considerable margin. Meanwhile, Duffy has done it in the ongoing game.

The right-arm pacer shared the new ball with Lockie Ferguson. The former started well as he conceded only three runs in his first over including a wide. However, things started going bad for the pacer in the second over as he was hit for two fours. In his third over, India skipper Rohit Sharma hit him for two sixes. It resulted in skipper Tom Latham resting Duffy for a while.

Jacob came back to bowl in the last over of the mandatory powerplay. In the over, the Otago player got hit for four and two sixes. After this, the 28-year-old was taken off the bowling once again. It took Latham 25 more overs to bring the Lumsden-born player to bowl once again. Even though he didn’t pick a wicket, Ishan Kishan got himself run out.

Jacob Duffy picked the wickets of Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya

Meanwhile, Duffy’s third spell of bowling turned out to be a bit of a relief. In the 37th over of the innings, the former New Zealand U19 player took the wicket of former India skipper Virat Kohli. In his next over, Jacob took the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav, who was going well after scoring 14 off nine balls. After this, the two-ODI player came on to bowl against Hardik Pandya, who hit him for two fours in the over.

In his ninth over, Duffy got hit for six and two fours by Pandya and Shardul Thakur. After this, Duffy conceded two sixes against Pandya resulting in him conceding 100 runs for the game.
