‘Kya team hain yarr’- Fans react as Galle Titans beat B-Love Kandy by 83 runs to win their second consecutive game in LPL 2023

Galle Titans (GT) won their second match in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 on Tuesday, defeating B-Love Kandy (BLK) by 83 runs at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Batting first the Titans scored 180 of the loss of five wickets. Tim Seifert was adjudged as the man of the match for his 74 runs off 39 balls innings. He also got the award for Striker of the Match for his five fours and as many sixes.

The Titans skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bat first. GT batting first started decently in the powerplay, their score was 37 for the loss of one wicket. Except for the Kiwi wicket-keeper batter, Shakib Al Hasan, and Shevon Daniel played notable knocks for their side, to reach a decent score of 180/5 in their 20 overs.

In response to a 181-run target, BLK was bundled out for just 97 runs, Dinesh Chandimal was out the second ball for a duck, Angelo Mathews was out for 2 in six balls and Captain Wainindu Hasarange for 9 off 7 balls. Bowler Isuru Udana scored 16 and Ashen Bandara top scored with 27 runs off 19 balls. Extras were the second highest at 19. For the GT, two each were grabbed by Kasun RajithaRichard Ngarava, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Shakib Al Hassan in their respective spells.

Dasun Shanaka after the match stated, “Siefert and Shakib showed how to bat on this surface and how good they are in this format. They have played all around the world and know how to operate, it’s something the local boys should learn from.” “The batting unit on this wicket, they showed how to bat. Seifert and Shakib showed how good they are in this format. They have played all around the globe, they know how to operate. They showed a good example. We need to carry forward this momentum. I have struggled in the previous three occasions. I wanted to have a good combination. Good to have bench strength.”

Tim Seifert stated, “Just wanted to be positive, keep momentum and put the seam bowlers under pressure. And keep rotating strike off the good balls. Two from two so hope the boys keep it up.”
