After winning their first game of the Indian Premier League 2023 against Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians are taking on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wanhede Stadium. In the match, Suryakumar Yadav came out for the toss instead of Rohit Sharma to everyone’s surprise.

The five-time champions won the toss and decided to bowl first in their first afternoon game of the season. MI made a few changes to its lineup, and the one that excited everyone was that of Arjun Tendulkar. The son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has been with the team for three years but is playing his first game against KKR.

Given his father’s enormous legacy, the 23-year-old will face enormous expectations. He will be looking forward to this crucial occasion to demonstrate his abilities. While he has never played in the IPL, he has some domestic experience.

Playing for GOA in his first Ranji Trophy game, Arjun recently scored his maiden hundred. He had a decent outing with the bat and the ball in the season and will look forward to doing the same in the cash-rich league as well.

Sachin Tendulkar, the renowned Indian cricketer, and his family are all in attendance at the Wankhede Stadium to watch Arjun play. They did not have to wait long to see him in action as the stand-in captain Suryakumar handed the left-hander the ball in the very first over.

In the meantime, the team’s regular captain Rohit Sharma has been left out of the Playing XI due to stomach illness. However, he has been included in the list of Impact players. This might be a strategic move by MI, and the team captain might come in to bat while chasing in the second innings.

Mumbai Indians’ Playing XI for the match

Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Arjun Tendulkar, Hrithik Shokeen, Piyush Chawla, Duan Jansen, Riley Meredith
