Amid the tussle over World Cup and Asia Cup with the Indian Cricket Board, PCB chief Najam Sethi made some shocking revelations. Ahead of the prestigious 50-over World Cup which is scheduled to take place in India later this year, Sethi said that Pakistan has not agreed to play in India.

In a recent interview with Dawn News PCB chairman Najam Sethi said that the news of Pakistan agreeing to play in India is false and it’s propaganda of Indian Media. Sethi said, “We have not agreed to play our World Cup matches against India in India. No Chennai, no Kolkata and it’s just false news from Indian media, in fact, it’s propaganda.”

Notably, earlier it has been reported that Pakistan has asked the Indian Cricket Board and Apex Council of Cricket to organize their game at the Eden Gardens or in Chennai. This all came after India denied to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup citing security issues. In response, PCB has threatened to boycott the upcoming world cup.

“We will only consider a hybrid model for Asia Cup”, says Najam Sethi

Further speaking about the Asia Cup 2023 PCB chief Najam Sethi denied all speculations about shifting the tournament outside Pakistan. He said, “We will only consider a hybrid model for the Asia Cup, where India would play their matches at a neutral venue and the rest of the teams will play in Pakistan. There’s no way the entire tournament is getting shifted outside Pakistan.”

Notably, Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be organized in August-September this year. It will be in 50 over format and six teams will participate in the tournament. However, some media reports have claimed that due to the ongoing tussle, Pakistan is considering organizing India’s games in UAE, Oman or Sri Lanka while the other five teams will play the tournament in Pakistan itself.
