Star India batter Ajinkya Rahane has been running out of international cricket for a long time due to various reasons. With the dip in form, the star batter has been left out of the Test team. The Mumbai-based batter is currently playing in the ongoing Indian Premier League and has been one of the major outcomes of the league till now. With blistering innings against Mumbai Indians Rahane made his comeback in the form and pushed his name for the Test Championship finals.
Meanwhile, in a recent news report, it has been reported that Indian Team Management and head Rahul Dravid are considering Rahane’s chances to make a comeback in the national squad. Dravid along with other coaches and staff members is currently working on the roadmap for the Test Championship finals. He is in National Cricket Academy and will chair a review meeting on Tuesday. It has been reported that in absence of Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer team management is looking for a reliable batter like Ajinkya Rahane for the prestigious tournament.
Rahul Dravid to monitor the workload of the players
In the latest news report released by Press Trust of India, it has been reported that Dravid will take the final decision over the combinations and will share his thoughts with the skipper Rohit Sharma. A source related to the top management told the news agency that, “Dravid headed by VVS Laxman along with batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dileep and other support staff. Will meet the NCA team, in which various issues related to the national team will be discussed.”
Notably, India will be playing against Australia in the finals of the Test Championship at the Oval Cricket Ground in London from June 7. The match will be one of the biggest events of the year and Rohit Sharma and the company will look to win it.
Although, the Indian team will be playing without its top batters and bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah along with Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant is set to miss the prestigious tournament due to an Injury. Meanwhile, fans react to the news of Rahane making a comeback in the squad.
