Ahead of the upcoming Indian T20 League 2023, Mumbai has decided to replace Jasprit Bumrah with Sandeep Warrier. The latter has played for Kolkata and Bangalore early in his playing career. The Keralite has played 68 T20s and has 62 wickets in the format. He will join the team ahead of their game against Bangalore on April 2. Meanwhile, the fans aren’t impressed with the replacement.

Talking about Sandeep, he plays for Kerala in the domestic. Also, he has played for Chepauk Super Gillies in Tamil Nadu Premier League. He moved to Tamil Nadu from Kerala a while back. He made his Indian T20 League debut for Kolkata in 2019. From 2019 to 2021, he played five games and has two wickets to his name. This time around, he is set to get much more games than in previous seasons.

Jasprit Bumrah might return to cricket in August this year

Meanwhile, Bumrah, who has been out of action since last September has undergone back surgery in New Zealand early this month. He was set to return for the ODI series against Sri Lanka in January this year. However, one of the NCA doctors advised the five-time Indian T20 League winner to rest for some more time.

After this, it was speculated that the right-arm pacer might return for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. However, that didn’t happen and the fans wondered whether he is prioritizing playing the league over the nation. However, as it turned out, the Gujarat player has been ruled out as he underwent back surgery early this month. As reported by ESPNcricinfo, he is set to return to the game only when he is absolutely fit.

The Indian Cricket Board has prepared a roadmap for his return in August this year.
