Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pace bowler Deepak Chahar was completely ruled out of the last IPL due to injury. And once again, it looks like he could miss another season as he sustained an injury during CSK’s match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2023. After the injury, he could not even complete his full quota of overs.

Chahar was injured in his first over in the Chennai vs Mumbai match played on Saturday (April 8) night. After the fifth ball, he felt a strain in his hamstring and was immediately sent out of the field to the physio. After the treatment, he threw a ball but then left the field. He bowled only one over in this match. Now it is believed that Chahar may be out of the Chennai team for the next 4 or 5 matches.

After Chahar’s exit from the field, former CSK star Suresh Raina, who is commenting for ‘Jio Cinema’, said that now Chahar may be out for 4 to 5 matches. Raina said, “Looks like he has a hamstring injury again. He is feeling uncomfortable. The rest of the IPL venues are far away from Chennai. In this way, travelling becomes very much. Looks like Chahar is out of the team for the next 4-5 matches.”

Deepak Chahar is our new ball bowler: MS Dhoni

Deepak Chahar didn’t even perform well in this season as in three matches he bowled 9 overs and bowled at an expensive economy rate of 10.44. He did not get a single wicket. However, he has been a key bowler for CSK for the past three years as he has taken 48 wickets in 2019, 2020, and 2021 but was ruled out of the entire tournament in 2022 due to a hamstring injury. CSK showed faith in him and retained Chahar at a whopping price of INR 14 crores.

CSK skipper MS Dhoni talked praised his players for winning the match even after losing the services of Chahar in the very first over. His exact words were, “Feels good. Not to forget we lost Deepak in the first over. He’s our new ball bowler and Magala playing his first match. The good thing is spinners bowled well. It was a bit two-paced and after seven overs, it started turning,” Dhoni gave his assessment.
