India vs South Africa T20 Series: India’s Predicted XI for the first T20I

The first match of the three-match India vs South Africa T20I series will be played on Wednesday at Thiruvananthapuram.

After beating Australia 2-1 in the three-match T20I series, India are all set to face South Africa next for another three-match series. The two teams will face off in the first game which will be played on Wednesday at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. As team India gets ready for their final assignment before the 20-20 World Cup, let’s see what team combination will captain Rohit Sharma field in the match tomorrow.

Openers

1. KL Rahul – After disappointing with the bat in Asia Cup, Rahul found some form in the first match against Australia scoring a brilliant half-century. However, he couldn’t score much in the other two matches and will look to find his mojo back against South Africa.

2. Rohit Sharma – Captain Sharma has been in fine form off-late. He will look to continue playing his aggressive brand of cricket against South Africa.

Middle Order

3. Virat Kohli – Having returned to form in the Asia Cup, Kohli will look to get some more runs under his belt and go into the world cup full of confidence.

4. Suryakumar Yadav– Yadav has enjoyed great success with the bat throughout the year. He’s India’s X-factor going into the World Cup. The star batter will give his all in the final series before the 20-20 World Cup.

Wicketkeeper

5. Rishabh Pant – Having spent the Australia series on the bench, the team management will also think about giving some game time to Pant before the marquee event.

6. Dinesh Karthik– With Hardik Pandya rested, it will be a chance for the Indian team to play both Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant in the playing XI.

All-rounder

6. Axar Patel – Replacing the experienced Ravindra Jadeja, Patel has grabbed the opportunity with both hands as he received the player of the series award in the Australia series. He will further look to pick some more wickets and play some cameos having almost sealed his place in the eleven for the mega event.

Spinners

8. Ravichandran Ashwin – Despite the wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal performing with the ball, the team management will be tempted to bring in Ravichandran Ashwin in his place. Being the most experienced bowler in the side, Ashwin can be a lethal weapon in the T20 extravaganza next month.

Seamers

9. Jasprit Bumrah – Bumrah has made a return to the team Indian team after missing out from the Asia Cup. India’s pace spearhead needs some game time to get back into the rhythm before the all-important World Cup.

10. Harshal Patel – After having a torrid time with the ball in the Australia series, Patel will look to make amends for his below-par performances in the upcoming series.

11. Arshdeep Singh – The left-arm seamer impressed everyone with his remarkable ability to bowl pin-point yorkers at the death. Arshdeep will look to give his all in the upcoming series and impress the team management to give him a place in the starting XI for the World Cup.
