India vs Australia: How much prize money will winner and runner-up of ODI World Cup 2023 get, explained

After one and a half months of high-voltage cricket and amazing performances, India is set to lock horns against Australia in the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023. The marquee game will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19. Amid the ongoing cricket talks, here we are with details of prize money.

According to the Apex Cricket Council, the winner of the tournament will be awarded four million US dollars, i.e., equivalent to INR 33,25,08,400. Meanwhile, the runner-up will receive a sum of two million US dollars, which is equivalent to INR 16,62,54,200. On the other hand, the losing semifinalist teams, i.e., South Africa and New Zealand, will receive a sum of 800,000 US dollars, which is equivalent to INR 6,65,01,680.

It’s worth noting that Rohit Sharma led India to victory. Kane Williamson led New Zealand in the first semifinal by 70 runs. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins-led Australia beat Temba Bavuma-led South Africa by three wickets in the second semi-final at Eden Gardens on November 16. With this, the top two teams in the ongoing tournament are ready for a final face-off at the world’s biggest cricket stadium.

How much will other teams earn from the ODI World Cup 2023?

According to the Apex Cricket Council, all other participating nations will also receive a sum of 100,000 USD each, which is equivalent to INR 83,17,710. Apart from this, teams will also receive 40,000 USD for winning a game in the tournament, which is equivalent to INR 33,25,442. A total of 10 million US dollars will be distributed by the Apex Cricket Council as prize money in the ongoing tournament.

In the final game, India will look to avenge their 2003 final defeat against the Aussies. In the 2003 ODI World Cup finals, Ricky Ponting led Australia, which batted first and posted a massive total of 359/2 in 50 overs. Chasing a big total, India flattered in Johannesburg and lost the game by 125 runs. Indian team management will be keen to continue their winning run as the team is on an 11-match winning streak.
