With Rishabh Pant recovering post his accident in late December 2022, Ishan Kishan is being preferred as the first-choice wicketkeeper in T20Is as KL Rahul was on a personal break to tie the knot with fiance Athiya Shetty. Kishan looked clueless in the three-match series against New Zealand and gathered 24 runs in total.
With an average of 8 in the series, Kishan overtook Pant’s record of the lowest average by an Indian wicketkeeper in a three-match T20I series, with the latter’s worst being 10. It is an unwanted record for the southpaw, who scored a double hundred against Bangladesh of late and the youngster would look to turn things around in the upcoming games.
