The Second ODI between India and South Africa took place at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. The toss was one by South Africa and they opted to bat first. Quinton de Kock was shown the door early by Mohammed Siraj, who cleaned up his stumps. Janneman Malan hung in there and scored a quick 25 from 31 as he hit five boundaries in his innings. When he was dismissed by Shabaz Ahmed, the score was 40-2.

Then, it was a wonderful show from Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram, who scored 74 off 76 balls, with nine fours and one six, and 79 off89 balls, with seven boundaries and one maximum. They got together and took the score to 169-3, which put South Africa in a good position. However, when Hendricks and Heinrich Klaasen were dismissed by Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav, South Africa went on the back foot.

Shortly after Markram was dismissed by Washington Sundar, it got South Africa into a big hole as they could not get going in the last ten overs. It was tough for the new batter to play on the pitch, and guys like David Miller and Wayne Parnell could not get going. Siraj picked up two wickets in the end, and this made things difficult for the visitors. They could get only 278-7 from their 50 overs.

In the second innings, Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed early by Wayne Parnell, and Shubman Gill scored a bright and breezy 28 off 26 balls, with five boundaries. When Gill was dismissed by Rabada at 48-2, it seemed like a panic situation for India. However, they got some superb rear-guard action from Shreyas Iyer and Ishaan Kishan, who scored 113 off 111 balls, with 15 fours, and 93 off 84 balls, with four fours and seven sixes.

They got a big partnership and steered India out of trouble. The finishing touches were given by Sanju Samson, who scored a calm and composed 30 off 36 balls, and Iyer hit the winning boundary for India, which helped them overhaul South Africa’s total and reach a score of 282 for 3 from 45.5 overs.

This was a comprehensive performance from India with bat and ball to level the series 1-1.
