England and Pakistan faced off in the second Test that kicked off on December 9, Friday and as one could expect, it was the Ben Stokes-led team who won the match, with a margin of 26 runs. Eventually, Stokes, who opened up on the win post the conclusion of the epic contest, lauded a star England batter for his valiance and compared the youngster to Indian superstar Virat Kohli.
Saying Harry Brook has what it takes to clinch the win for England, the Three Lions skipper claimed that Kohli has a technique that can work anywhere unlike Brook. Notably, the Indian superstar has stupendous records in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries and in Asian countries as well, in the longest format of the game in specific.
“Harry had the summer he had last year and had all the big ups before he made his debut at the end of the summer. To come here and put in that performance again is just phenomenal. He is one of those rare players where you look across all formats and you can just see him being successful anywhere. Massive shout but Virat Kohli is one of those guys where his technique is just so simple it works everywhere,” Stokes was quoted as saying.
England continue dominance under Ben Stokes in longest format
As far as the Test match is concerned, it was the Three Lions who batted first against the mighty Babar Azam-led team. Much to the delight of the English fans, they managed to put on 281 runs in the first innings, despite Pakistan’s debutant Abrar Ahmed causing a lot of havoc with his seven-for.
On the other hand, Pakistani men started falling apart and eventually were bowled out for a mere score of 202, on the back of Babar’s 75. Leading by 79 runs, the English team scored 275 on the back of Brook’s century and set a target of 355 for the Pakistani team, who were already low in morale. While many predicted that the match could end up being one-sided, England won the game with just 26 runs to spare, proving their might in the format yet again.
