In the second Test in Multan, England kept up their winning streak by defeating Pakistan by 24 runs, giving them a commanding 2-0 lead in the ongoing three-match series. The team led by Ben Stokes won the first Test in Rawalpindi by 74 runs on a dead track that had nothing on offer for the bowlers.

Follow  ing the second match, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam attended a press conference, where he was stumped by a reporter’s question, which implied that he and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan should concentrate on T20s. Babar then responded appropriately to the media person, with a short and straightforward response.

“Babar yeh fans k taraf se ek sawal hai, unka kehna tha Babar aur Rizwan jo hain, unko apna focus T20 pe karna chahiye, kyuki jaise woh out hote hain puri team down ho jati hain (This question is from the fans, who feel that Babar and Rizwan should focus in T20s. As they get out the rest of the team crumbles),” said the reporter.

Babar then interrupted the reporter and asked, “Toh aap keh rahe hain Test chhor de? (So you are saying, we should stop playing Test?)”

“Aap kya soch rahe hain is baare mein, T20 mein jaana chahiye (What are your thoughts on it, should you play only T20?)” continued the reporter. “Sir, aisa kuch nahi soch rahe hum (Sir I’m not thinking anything like that),” responded Babar.

The visitors then dismissed Babar Azam and company for 202, taking a crucial 79-run lead. England then added another 275 runs in their second innings, leaving Pakistan with the difficult task of chasing down 355 in the fourth innings.

Pakistan came close to the target, but fell 27 runs short, with their innings ending at 328. Babar was bowled out for one run in Pakistan’s second innings, but he scored 75 in the first. Rizwan, on the other hand, only managed 10 and 30 runs in the two innings.
