The second Test match of the England tour of Pakistan played at the Multan Cricket Stadium, saw some great action throughout its run time. The match appeared evenly balanced at the start of day four for both teams, with Pakistan needing 157 runs to win and England needing 6 wickets to win the match and the series.
England got an early wicket of Faheem Ashraf on day four, but the home side bounced back with some attacking display from Mohammad Nawaz and some resistance from Saud Shakeel. The two put on a crucial partnership of 80 runs until they were dismissed in quick succession. They scored 45 and 94 runs, respectively, and appeared to be taking the game away from the visitors.
On the brink of Lunch, Mark Wood turned the tide and got rid of both the set batters. At lunch, Pakistan was at a score of 291/7 while chasing a target of 355 runs. Pakistan hit a few boundaries, but the English pacers kept up the pressure and bowled Abrar Ahmed and Zahid Mahmood. Ollie Robinson put the final nail in the coffin when he dismissed Mohammad Ali for 328 runs, giving his team a 26-run victory.
Earlier in the game, debutant Abrar Ahmed had performed admirably for Pakistan, taking seven wickets in the first innings. His efforts restricted England to a score of 281, with Ben Duckett (63 runs in 49 balls) and Ollie Pope (60 runs in 61 balls) scoring half-centuries.
Pakistan then scored 202 runs in their first innings, handing the Three Lions a lead of 79 runs. Abrar, once again, was at the top of his game in the next innings, taking four wickets to complete 11 wickets in the game. Despite his efforts, England managed to score 275, with Harry Brook completing his century (108 in 149 balls).
With this win, the team led by Ben Stokes won the historic series with one match yet to be played. The England Test team is touring Pakistan after a long gap of 17 years.
