Deepak Chahar, one of the best new ball bowlers in the world currently, recently appeared in an interview. The right-arm pacer has not played cricket for India in a long time. The CSK player helped his team to win the 2023 IPL and has not played cricket much since then. After India’s win in the 2023 Asia Cup, Chahar has opened up about India’s win, Siraj’s spell, the challenges ahead of India, and a lot more.
The Indian pacer felt that it is important to maintain a balance between rest and game time. “I think both (game time and rest) are important. Rest should be given to players but also, they should get to play matches. Rhythm is important. It is great for a player when he is in a good rhythm, and you must carry it forward. We have these 2-3 matches through which we will get good practice,” said the Indian pacer.
After the 2023 Asia Cup, India will be facing Australia in an ODI series before taking part in the 2023 ODI World Cup. “Australia is a good opponent for us, and we will get to learn a lot. It is about keeping them fresh and maintaining their rhythm. It should be management’s call,” added Chahar.
He has been bowling brilliantly since past year: Deepak Chahar
The Indian pacer praised Siraj’s spell in the Asia Cup final. “I was watching the match, was at practice. He bowled brilliantly. He has been bowling brilliantly since past year and that is why he is our number-one bowler. We had not won a big tournament for a long time so it’s good we won the Asia Cup. It will give us huge boost heading into the World Cup,” said Chahar.
“In cricket, wickets are not in our control. What matters is how you bowl. Sometimes, you do not bowl well but get wickets, but sometimes you just do not even if you bowl well. I think Jasprit Bumrah is bowling well, he is in a good rhythm. We have good chances in the World Cup since our batting and bowling is doing great,” concluded Chahar.
