Shaheen Shah Afridi, the star of Pakistan’s bowling attack, met Jasprit Bumrah at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo after the play was called off on Sunday (September 10). He gave him his sincere congratulations on becoming a father.
The two will compete in the India vs. Pakistan clash during the Super 4 match of the 2023 Asia Cup at the R.Premadasa Stadium. The play was suspended due to the persistent rain. The game will now pick up where it left off yesterday (reserve day).
India lost the toss and were sent out to bat first in the game. They scored 147/2 after 24.1 overs when the rain came. After making superb half-centuries, Shubman Gill (58) as well as Rohit Sharma (56), respectively, left the pitch. Virat Kohli (8* in 16 balls), along with KL Rahul (17* in 28 balls), two experienced batters, remain undefeated at the plate.
Shaheen Afridi, a speed bowler for Pakistan, greeted Jasprit Bumrah in the seating area of the stadium, presented him with a gift, and expressed his congrats on becoming a father last week. He said, “Many many congratulations to you Bumrah bhai and bhabhi. May god always keep your son happy, and may he become the new Bumrah”.

RP Singh, a former Indian bowler, raised concern over Jasprit Bumrah’s ability to adapt to the physical requirements associated with the ODI format upon his comeback. Singh stated on the AakashVani programme on JioCinema as he said, “Bumrah was certainly the spearhead of our bowling lineup thus far. He was out because of injury. It is good news for India that he is back. However, we will have to now see with what rhythm he bowls, what is his fitness percentage.”
In his return, Bumrah has not yet begun bowling in a One Day International encounter. He took four wickets while leading the team during the two T20I games played last month against Ireland.
