India moves to top in WTC 2025

After a one-sided victory against the West Indies in the first Test of the series, India became number one in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-2025 table. The Men in Blue responded emphatically after their WTC 2021-23 final loss to Australia at The Oval a month ago. On the third day, India bowled out the West Indies for 130 after declaring their first innings at 421/5.

India’s emphatic three-day triumph has moved them to the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) table, where they have accumulated a perfect 12 points and a 100% win record. Australia is presently in second place with 22 points from three matches and a victory percentage of 61.11%. Meanwhile, England is in third place with 10 points from three games and a victory percentage of 27.78%.

In India’s amazing victory, youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal, skipper Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli shone with the bat. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took charge of the bowling department. Ashwin took 12 wickets in his triumphant comeback after being dropped from the WTC final. He finished the game with stats of 12/131 after going seven for 71 in the second inning.

West Indies disappointed with the bat once again

Earlier, on Day 3 of the game, Jaiswal was dismissed by Alzari Joseph after scoring 171 runs off 387 balls in his debut game. He became the highest run scorer for India in its debut Test overseas. However, overall, he became the third-highest run-scorer in his debut game after Shikhar Dhawan (187) and Rohit Sharma (177). Meanwhile, Kohli also hammered a magnificent half-century before getting dismissed by R. Cornwall. India declared their innings after getting more than enough runs on the board.

The West Indies second innings performance was considerably worse, as they were bowled out for only 130 runs. Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagernarine Chanderpaul each scored seven. Five batters in the batting order scored in single digits. Alick Athanaze, who top-scored with 47 in the first inning, top-scored in the second inning too, with 28.
