‘Bas ye stump mic hi Test cricket ko zinda rakheha’ – Fans react as Ishan Kishan’s antics while wicketkeeping goes viral on social media

With this amazing performance, Ashwin became the second-highest wicket-taker for India in international cricket.

Ishan Kishan

In the first Test of India’s West Indies tour, two debutants marked their presence on the field. 21-year-old Mumbai batter Yashasvi Jaiswal made an amazing debut by scoring 171 runs off 387 balls, while wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan scored 1 run. However, Kishan’s commentary behind the wickets was a highlight of the game.

In three days, Kishan could be seen instructing fielders like Kohli and sledging opposing players on the field. Kishan was heard advising Gill to be mindful of Rohit Sharma just before the start of the West Indies’ 65th over. He said, “Rohit bhai phir gaali denge tereko (Rohit Sharma will abuse you again).”

Further, he can be heard instructing Virat Kohli and Gill to stay at their positions while fielding in the first inning. Apart from these, he was also using foul language while speaking with a fellow teammate about the game. Pointing to an opponent batter, he said, “Maa c*** isne wicket-keeping ki.”

After Jaiswal Ravichandran Ashwin scripted India’s victory

Led by Ravichandran Ashwin’s exceptional performance, India secured a commanding victory against the West Indies in the first Test at Windsor Park. After debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive knock of 171, India declared a substantial lead of 271 runs. It was then Ashwin’s turn to shine, as he claimed an outstanding 7-wicket haul, conceding only 71 runs.

The West Indies, facing a challenging target, succumbed to the pressure and were dismissed for a mere 130 runs on the third evening. Taking full advantage of the pitch’s turn and bounce, Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja formed a formidable duo, wreaking havoc on the West Indies top order. Their relentless attack propelled India towards a resounding victory.

With this amazing performance, Ashwin became the second-highest wicket-taker for India in international cricket. He now has 709 scalps in all three formats. Former India coach Anil Kumble leads the list with more than 950 wickets in international cricket.
