‘Gulshan bhi ab to veerana lagta hai’ – Fans react as Steve Smith goes unsold during IPL 2024 player auction

The last time Steve Smith played in the IPL was during the 2021 season which was played in two parts due to COVID19.

Former Australia skipper and Test vice-captain Steve Smith continues to go unsold in the IPL 2024 player auction. The last time he played an IPL game was during the 2021 season for Delhi Capitals which reached the playoffs. Since then, Smith continued to go unsold in the mega auction in 2022 and mini-auction in 2023. In the ongoing mini auction 2024, the three-time World Cup winner went unsold.

He was list in the first set of players consisting of capped players from India and overseas. The former Rajasthan Royals skipper went unsold although he can be signed when the bids for unsold players start at the end of the day. Talking about his T20 career, he last played for Australia during the T20I series in South Africa a few months back. Talking about his IPL career, he has played for now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals

CSK – Rachin Ravindra (1.8 crores), Shardul Thakur (4 crores)

SRH – Travis Head (6.8 crores), Wanindu Hasaranga (1.5 crores), Pat Cummins (20.5 crores)

GT – Azmatullah Omarzai (50 lakhs)

DC – Harry Brook (4 crore)
