In the first Test match between Australia and Pakistan, the Asian side suffered one of the heaviest defeats in the history of Test cricket. They lost the match by 360 runs, chasing 450 runs to win. With this, once again their dream of winning a Test match down under after 1994-95 remains distant for the time being. Trailing by 0-1, the team will play the second Test in Melbourne starting on December 26.

Ahead of the game, team director and coach, Mohammad Hafeez seemed to be optimistic about his team’s chances in the next game. However, the former Pakistan skipper was also critical of his team for their 360-run loss in the Perth Test last week

“We made plans for the team, but unfortunately, we couldn’t execute them well. The guys wanted to, but they never applied themselves, to be very honest.”

“We couldn’t execute our skills well,” said Coach Hafeez. “We made plans for the team, but unfortunately, we couldn’t execute them well. That’s not an excuse.”

“I’ve seen during the preparation the amount of talent these guys have. There is no doubt they can beat Australia here in Australia.”
Meanwhile, former England skipper Michael Vaughan took a dig at Hafeez. The former said that Pakistan doesn’t have any chance of winning in Australia.
