Rishabh Pant was left out of India’s squads for both the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka starting on January 3rd. The Indian Cricket Board press release did not specify whether Pant was injured, rested, or dropped. However, there were reports which suggested that he had a knee injury and the team management didn’t want to risk him with the four-match Test series against Australia approaching.
