‘Easy game ko rain ne difficult bana diya’ – Fans react to India advancing to Super 4s of Asia Cup 2023

India qualified for the Asia Cup Super 4s stage with impressive victory over Nepal

Rohit Sharma

Along with the fielding opportunities, India also dropped a number of simple catches after choosing to bowl first. It would have been fascinating to watch whether this had any repercussions for Rohit and company later on in the game. Kushal Bhurtel as well as Aasif Sheikh scored 65 runs for the first wicket before Shardul Thakur dismissed Bhurtel for 38, giving Nepal a good start to the proceedings.

Ravindra Jadeja entered the party shortly after being fired and spearheaded India’s resurgence. Mohammed Siraj added three more wickets to Jadeja’s haul of three. As the first player from Nepal to score a half-century against India, Aasif emerged as the camp’s star hitter.

Before falling out to Siraj during the 30th over, the opener had scored a well-made 58. After being given the opportunity to bat first, Nepal made a heroic effort, scoring 230 runs before they ran out of wickets. They made a positive total of 230 in their 50 overs and could have posed some challenges to their neighbours with this sort of score on the board.

India chase DLS total with ease

Before the match was stopped by rain, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma gave India a quick start, accumulating 17/0 in 2.1 overs. Following an almost two-hour weather delay in Pallekele, India were challenged to score 145 over 23 overs.

Both of the openers had reached their fifties and appeared to be in good shape. They took care to ensure that they had precisely 10 wickets in hand when the game was over. This sort of an innings would surely give the openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill who were under a lot of scrutiny after their last performance.

Since the two openers finished off the game, their self-belief would be sky-high and would be looking forward to continuing this impressive run during the Super 4s of the Asia Cup 2023. India would now face Pakistan on September 10, 2023, in their opening game of the Super 4s stage
