‘Der aaye lekin durust aaye’ – Fans react as star India batter Shubman Gill starts net practice after recovering from Dengue

India will face Pakistan at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14 before facing Bangladesh on October 19.

Shubman Gill

Star India batter Shubman Gill has recovered from dengue. The 24-year-old opener has started batting practice in Ahmedabad and is likely to play against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023. This news has come as a big sigh of relief for the Indian team as they were missing the talented opener. It’s worth noting that Gill missed the first two games due to illness.

However, India won both games and in the absence of Gill, skipper Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan took charge. Kishan had a good outing against Afghanistan in the last game but, will be sitting out if Gill completes the fitness test. It’s worth noting that Gill has been phenomenal throughout the ongoing year as he has scored more than five international centuries.

His amazing batting performances include a double-century against New Zealand earlier this year. Additionally, Gill has a great track record at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He has been phenomenal with the bat at this ground for both the Gujarat Titans and the Indian Cricket Team. Team management will want him to continue his dominance with the bat and help the team beat its archrivals.

Will India drop Mohammad Siraj?

Meanwhile, ahead of the marquee clash against Pakistan, Star India pacer Mohammad Siraj faces criticism. The world number 2 pacer has failed to take a single wicket in the last two games and has been the weakest link in the squad. The dip in his performance has raised questions over his selection into the playing XI. It’s worth noting that India has Mohammed Shami on the bench, who has a great record in World Cup history.

It will be an interesting call to take by skipper Rohit Sharma. India will face Pakistan at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14 before facing Bangladesh on October 19. Team management will look at Siraj to get back in form ahead of crucial games in the ongoing tournament. It’s worth noting that India is currently second in the points table.
