The India U19 side has once again given us an array of talented young players, who will be looking to set their future in the upcoming major tournaments. There have been a lot of cricketers who have become the big stars of Indian cricket. The likes of Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Yashasavi Jaiswal are prime examples of players who have announced themselves on the stage after great performances in this tournament. Although there have been some talented players in this India squad as well.

Musheer Khan, Sachin Dhas and Saumy Pandey are some of the star performers who will be remembered for a long time, but the man who has stood up in the most crucial circumstances for the team is none other than skipper Uday Saharan. His knock of 81 against the South Africa u19 side was one of the main highlights of the semi-final which came at the time when the Indian team were struggling at 32-4. The skipper along with Dhas put together a partnership of 171 for the 5th wicket to get his side over the line and make it to the final. This will be the sixth title for the India U19 side which they will set their eyes on after beating either Pakistan U19 or Australia U19 in the final.

Uday Saharan and Virat Kohli

We cannot forget that Virat Kohli also made a mark in the U19 World Cup where he led his team to victory as well. Virat was also one of the top performers for the side where he was the third-highest run-getter scoring 253 at an average of 47. The current India batting legend’s most memorable knock during that World Cup was his terrific 74-ball century against the West Indies team that got the selectors interested in him. Uday Saharan is also having a great tournament so far being the highest run-getter for the Indian team scoring 389 runs in the 6 games at an average of 64.83.

Uday Saharan’s performance speaks for itself and it will be interesting to see what are the next plans for the current U19 skipper. There have been a lot of World Cup-winning captains at this level, but what Uday has shown in this tournament is something for all the cricketing fans to admire. This is only the first step for the young batter to prove himself on the big stage and we hope he is backed by the staff after the amazing performances he has shown. There have been talented players in the past, but the talented players who perform under pressure are really hard to find. This is what made Kohli really special and what Uday has shown glimpses of in this World Cup as well.
