In the 64th game of the Indian Premier League 2023, Delhi Capitals faced Punjab Kings at the HPCA cricket stadium in Dharamshala. This is one of the most important games of the season as PBKS’s victory will keep them alive in the race of playoffs. On the other hand, DC would like to play as party poppers for them and would like to derail the PBKS championship.
In the game PBKS, skipper Shikhar Dhawan opted to bowl first on his new home ground. His decision didn’t go well with the team as Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw and David Warner added 94 runs for the first wicket. Warner, in his innings, scored 46 runs off 31 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes before getting dismissed by Sam Curran.
However, Shaw who was making his comeback for DC scored a brilliant half-century. Shaw scored 54 runs off 38 balls with the help of seven boundaries and a sixes. Shaw along with Rilee Russouw added 54 runs for the second wicket. He was dismissed by Sam Curran on the last balls of the 15th over.
Prithvi Shaw had a poor season in the IPL 2023
Earlier, in this season, Shaw started for Delhi Capitals in initial games. He failed to score runs in the first six games as he scored just 47 runs at an average of 7.8. Later he was dropped by David Warner. Notably, Shaw also had some off-field issues which led to affecting him mentally.
It’s worth noting that, Shaw allegedly beat influencer Sapna Gill and her boyfriend after having some issues outside a club in Mumbai. Both parties registered a complaint against each other and sued each other in court. Sapna Gill also alleged that Shaw touched her inappropriately during the fight.
