The Capcom Cup X Group Stage matches are now underway, with players aiming for the top 2 spots in their groups. Day 1 concludes with seasoned players dominating their opponents in an attempt to secure an early lead.
A total of 48 players are taking part in this year’s tournament. These players qualified through the Offline Premier, Capcom Pro Tour Online Premier, World Warrior Circuit and Last Chance Qualifier.
This year’s Capcom Cup features a prize pool of over $1.7 million, with the winner taking home $1 million. It also became the first fighting game tournament to feature a grand prize this big.
Format
The players are divided into eight groups of six. These players will face others in their group in a single round-robin format. The group stages will run for three days, with all matches played as first to 2 (FT2).
At the end of the third match day, the top two players from each group will move forward to the finals. The winner of each group will start in the upper brackets, while the players in the second spot will be in the lower brackets.
The grand finals will feature double-elimination brackets, with players losing in the upper brackets landing in the lower bracket. For grand finals, all matches will be played as FT3.
