Fans react as reports of BYJU's ending jersey sponsorship deal with team India surfaces

The Indian cricket team might get a new sponsor as BYJU’s is all set to end the deal with the team, eventually paving way for a new era in Indian cricket. The most popular jersey sponsor was ‘Sahara’ and since then, team India have witnessed many jersey sponsors, with BYJU’s being the latest of all.

However, reports emerged on December 16, Friday, from the Economic Times claiming that the company might end its jersey sponsorship deal. Earlier, it was Oppo who sponsored team India and BYJU’s eventually succeeded them taking over the jersey sponsorship. As things stand, reports claimed that the company wanted to walk out of the deal to optimise its media spending.

“Byju’s wants to walk out of the sponsorship deal with BCCI since it is optimising its media spends in India,” the Economic Times quoted the source as saying. It will be an end of an era for the Men in Blue although one has to agree that they did not win any title throughout.

Team India battle hard against Bangladesh in first Test

In other news, the KL Rahul-led team are squaring off against Bangladesh in the first Test that kicked off on December 14, Wednesday and Day 4 turned out to be India’s as they managed to pick 6 scalps from the Bangla Tigers camp who were chasing a mammoth target of 513. India set a massive target on the back of centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill in the second innings, while they started the innings with a lead of 254.

Post scoring 404 runs in the first innings, the Indian team managed to restrict Bangladesh to 150, eventually starting their second innings with a massive lead. After declaring at 258/2 in the second innings, Rahul and his men were satisfied with the target on board, given that the Bangladesh batters were struggling in the first innings as well.
