Lucknow Super Giants pacer Avesh Khan got into a controversy after an IPL 2023 game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. On the last ball of the game, he was on strike against Harshal Patel with nine wickets down. Khan missed the slower one dipping under the bat but somehow missed the stumps. The likes of Khan and Ravi Bishnoi took off for the winning run.
Dinesh Karthik, who kept the wickets for RCB fumbled and couldn’t throw the ball in time to execute a run-out. As it turned out, LSG won the game by a wicket. After this, the right-arm pacer, Khan threw his helmet in celebration. It not created a meme fest but also invited a ‘Level 1 offense 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct’.
Meanwhile, almost two months after the incident, the India player said that he aceept his mistakes
“Yeh social media mein mera mahool bana rehta hai and helmet incident thoda jyada hogaya tha. I realised later that I shouldn’t have done this. It just happened in the heat of the moment. I now feel sad that yaar yeh sab cheez nahi karna tha,” Khan said in an interview with The Indian Express.
IPL 2023 didn’t go the way I would have liked: Avesh Khan
The Madhya Pradesh player reflected on this bowling performances in the IPL 2023. He played only nine games and has only eight wickets to his name at 35.38 apiece. Meanwhile, Khan said that the 16th season didn’t go the way he would have wanted.
“If you compare my past two IPL seasons before this one, it went the way I wanted too. However, even though the season didn’t go well as per my standard, I maintained my economy rate which is less than 10. I bowl crucial overs 4 or 5th over and later in death,” he points out, explaining how this season has witnessed more 200 runs games and all bowlers have a higher economy rate.
