According to the reports, the Board For Control Of Cricket In India (BCCI) national selectors are worried about the form of Virat Kohli. Currently, he is having a torrid time in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 with the bat. In the nine games played by former India and Bangalore skipper, he has only mustered 128 runs at a meagre average of 16.
In his debut season in 2008, he could only score 165 runs in 13 games and averaged 15. In this ongoing season, he started with an unbeaten 41 against Punjab. Since then, he has only managed an innings of 48 runs against Mumbai. Apart from that, he has scored only nine runs in the last three games. This includes two back-to-back golden ducks in the first two. After the conclusion of the 15th season, the Indian team will play five-match T20I series against South Africa at home in June.
With the national selectors looking closely at the cash-rich league, they are concerned about the form of the 33-year-old. He has been an integral part of the team since late 2009 when he hit his maiden ODI hundred against Sri Lanka. Further reports suggest that the BCCI officials won’t interfere in the selection matters.
“Virat Kohli is a Great servant of Indian cricket. But his form from sometime now is a huge concern now for the National selectors and BCCI.” – The BCCI Official was quoted as saying by InsideSport.
“See we don’t intervene in the selection matters. Selectors have to take call on Virat and others. We can’t give our judgment to them. Obviously, they are concerned about what is happening to himâ€, added the official

On the other hand, the chief selector reportedly chose not to answer the query on Kohli’s form.
“I don’t want to speak about it,” said the Chairman of the National Selection committee Chetan Sharma, while abruptly disconnected the phone when asked about Kohli’s form. Nevertheless, the Indian fans would certainly hope that Kohli overcomes his lean patch, and starts consistently scoring runs like before.
