India vs Australia 2023

‘Bahut bura hoga bhaijaan’ – Fans react as reports claim Suryakumar Yadav to lead India in T20I series against Australia

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is set to become India’s captain against Australia in the T20I series. Australia is set to play India in the 5-match series after the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023. Reports claim that Suryakumar might lead India in the series in the absence of Hardik Pandya. The star all-rounder has been ruled out of the T20I series against Australia and South Africa.

In the absence of Hardik, Suryakumar is set to lead India. The star batter has been the best batter in India in the shortest format of the game since his debut. The Indian number 4 has been one of the best T20 batters in the world in the last 3 years. The form of Yadav has been terrific and seems to be only getting better. The right-handed batter is an experienced campaigner as well.

In almost all the series, Suryakumar Yadav has fired with the bat. Right from the debut series against England to the latest series against West Indies, Yadav has been successful for India. Though the unorthodox batter has not been consistent with the bat in the ODIs, Yadav has done everything right in the shortest format for India.

Young squad to be selected for the series against Australia

Reports also suggest that a young squad would be selected for the series against Australia. The senior players in the team are likely to be rested before the Test series against South Africa which is set to happen later this year. In the absence of senior players, Yadav is likely to lead a young side in the T20I series. For the series against Australia and South Africa, a similar squad is likely to play.

Some of the youngsters who got chances in the T20I side earlier this year after their success in the IPL 2023 like Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mukesh Kumar, and others might be picked in the series. The experienced Suryakumar might lead them in the two T20I series, which will prove to be important before the T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to happen next year.
