‘Bahar karo Rohit Sharma ko’ – Fans lash team India captain for failing against Bangladesh in 20-20 World Cup

Rohit Sharma

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma is not at the best of his forms of late and in the clash against Bangladesh on November 2, Sunday, the right-handed batter made his way back to the dressing room for just 2 runs. Moreover, the batter got a lifeline when was at 1 as he was dropped at square leg off Taskin Ahmed’s delivery.

However, the continued poor run from the Men in Blue captain is alarming as India would make it to the semis if they win against Bangladesh. Averaging only around 24 in the format this year, Rohit is yet to play an impactful inning and regain his lost form. Out of the 27 innings that he has played this year, Rohit managed to reach the fifty-run landmark only thrice, with a high score of 72.

All games are important in this format: Rohit

At the toss, the team India captain said that it was important to give equal importance to all games in the shortest format of the game. Further, the right-handed batter said that the team would hope to play a good game and take home the much-needed 2 points.

For the unversed, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan called it right at the toss and elected to field first. Rohit, who was happy with the toss, said that the Indian team wanted to bat first anyway.

“We would have batted first. Runs on the board would matter. We would look to bat well. All games are important in this format. We didn’t play well in the last game. Hopefully, we can play some good cricket and get those two points. Good ground and good atmosphere here. Good weather as well,” Rohit said at the toss. The Indian team management would hope for a strong comeback from the captain in the matches to come. However, things won’t be easy for Rohit as he might face heavyweights in the semis if India make it through.

As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Rohit’s continued failure:
