India set to tour Zimbabwe after T20 World Cup 2024

After the T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA India will tour Zimbabwe in July. This tour will include a 5-match T20 series. On February 6, the Zimbabwe Cricket Board stated that India’s trip to Harare is confirmed for the T20 series. From July 6 to 14 July Zimbabwe will host five T20 games in Harare Sports Club. After 2010, 2015 and 2016, this is the fourth time India is touring Zimbabwe for the T20 series.

In the past, India has frequently visited African nations but never played a bilateral series against Zimbabwe at home. After the productive meetings between the Zimbabwe Cricket Board and the Indian Cricket Board, the confirmation of the tour came in the statement.

The T20 World Cup will feature 16 teams playing in the tournament. The tournament will start from 1st June to 29th June in the USA and the West Indies. In Zimbabwe, India has played 7 matches and has won 5. Two matches resulted in series wins in T20. For the first time, India is playing a 5-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.

Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah stated that it is a good phase in the world of cricket as Zimbabwe Cricket is growing and India will provide its best support for their growth in cricket.

“The Indian Cricket Board has always played an important role in contributing to the global cricket community. We understand that it is a period of rebuilding for Zimbabwe, and Zimbabwe Cricket needs our support at this juncture,” Jay Shah was quoted as saying by the Zimbabwe Cricket release.

“Our steadfast commitment to touring and supporting fellow member boards aligns with our principle of bringing about a positive transformation within the cricketing landscape. The Indian Cricket Board will do its best to make bilateral cricket stronger and commercially more viable,” he added.

ZC Chairman Mr Tavengwa Mukuhlani said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be host India for a T20I series in July in what will be our biggest international attraction at home this year.

“The game of cricket has always immensely benefited from India’s influence and dedication to the sport, and I would like to say a huge thank you to the Indian Cricket Board for committing to tour Zimbabwe once again.
