Iran and Wales squared off on Day 6 in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar and it was the former who came out on top, scoring 2 goals and eventually making it a surprise. Wales held possession for most parts of the game, but it was Iran who took home 3 points.
Concerning the goals, both of them came in the extra time post the 90th minute and it was the likes of Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian who made it possible for the team with their incredible effort.
While Cheshmi scored a goal in the 8th minute into the extra time, Rezaeian bagged yet another goal in the 11th minute in the additional minutes, making it one of the biggest surprises in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022.
Wales’ Wayne Hennessey gets red card
Wayne Hennessey, the goalkeeper for Wales, eventually bagged a red card and in an unfortunate turn of events, it shifted the momentum away from Wales, who otherwise looked on course to make it a draw.
After facing England in their campaign opener and eventually losing it in a humiliating way, Iran made a stunning comeback to make it count in their next encounter against Wales in the ongoing multinational tournament.
While the road to the next round looks difficult for Iran, it remains to be seen if the Dragons could find themselves up ahead in the race to win the title, given that they are now at rock bottom post failing to take home 3 points in either of the games.
With the match against USA ending in a draw, it will be crucial for Wales to find a way out, given that they are almost out of the tournament. All said and done, Group B remains one of them to watch out for, with England remaining the favourites to make it to the finals.
Let us now take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Iran’s astonishing win against Wales in the Group B match:

Wales are not a good team. At all. Iran played them off the park for large parts of the game. Result reflected the game I think ?? #FIFAWorldCupQatar2022
