Lionel Messi led Argentina to win the FIFA World Cup 2022 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar on Sunday. With this win, Messi has finally won a World Cup that had eluded him for 20 years.
Argentina’s incredible win against France has sent a shockwave of euphoria throughout the world with Buenos Aires being the happiest place in the entire world. Thousands flooded the streets of Argentina’s capital city.
After drawing 3-3 in extra time both teams went head to head in a penalty shootout and Argentina came out victorious at the end of it. Winning a World Cup after 1986 is being celebrated like a festival in Messi’s country, the scenes of which were beautifully captured by a drone shot.
A video that is doing the round of social media, shows incredible scenes in the city center of Buenos Aires. Posted by an Argentinian film director by the name Ale Petra, the video has amassed more than 750k likes on Instagram. The caption of the video says, “We are world champions! Leo Messi, you asked us to trust the team, so we trusted.”

The city centre was filled with fans of all ages and groups as they came together to celebrate Argentina’s third World Cup win.
“I can’t believe it! It was difficult, but we did it, thanks to Messi,” Santiago, 13, who celebrated the win with his family in Buenos Aires, told Reuters.
“It was an incredible game, at times anguishing,” said 46-year-old Diego Aburgeily, who celebrated the win in the Buenos Aires suburbs.
Along win the World Cup, Lionel Messi also won the Player of the Match award in the final, along with the Golden Ball for being the best player in the tournament. With this win, he also became the first player to receive this award on two occasions.
