After their convincing victory over Delhi in the first game of the Indian T20 League 2023, Lucknow locked horns with Chennai at Chepauk on Monday. In the first home game of the season, the four times champion Chennai got a flying start due to amazing batting from Ruturaj Gaikwad. The star batter scored a second consecutive half-century to give Chennai a dream start. However, his batting left Lucknow mentor Gautam Gambhir in baffle as he was caught angry on camera.
In the second game of the season, Lucknow won the toss and opted to bowl first on a spin-friendly track. Chennai, playing on their home ground, got a flying start as opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Convey added 110 runs in just nine overs. Gaikwad, in his amazing innings, scored 57 runs off 31 balls with the help of four sixes and three boundaries. Meanwhile, Convey hammered 47 runs off 29 balls with the help of two sixes and five boundaries.
However, when Lucknow was struggling to get a breakthrough, their mentor Gautam Gambhir looked baffled on camera. He was sitting in the dugout when the cameraman pointed toward him. Gautam was not happy with the on-field performance of players and seemed unhappy. However, just in the spare of some time, Lucknow got their first breakthrough as Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Gaikwad.
Ravi Bishnoi performed exceptionally at run-fest
In the run-fest at Chepauk star Lucknow spinner Ravi Bishnoi performed exceptionally to control the flow of the run. He dismissed opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and gave the much-needed breakthrough to the visitors. Further, he dismissed Shivam Dube for 27 runs off 16 balls and Moeen Ali for 19 runs off 13 balls. He also went economical as he just gave 28 runs in four overs.
Apart from him, pacer Mark Wood clinched wickets in overs. With this amazing comeback in death overs, Chennai posted 217 runs in 20 overs. Meanwhile, fans react to Gambhir’s reaction and call him a ‘Dukhi aatma.’ A Twitter user said, “ye kb khush hota hai.”
