Virat Kohli and Michael Vaughan

Star India batter Virat Kohli hammered a magnificent half-century against Mumbai on Sunday in Indian T20 League 2023. Kohli, in his innings, toyed with Mumbai’s inexperienced bowling lineup and scored an unbeaten 82 off 46 balls. Kohli and Faf du Plessis added 148 runs for the opening wicket and chased 172 runs in just 16.2 overs.

Kohli, with his innings, impressed everyone and was the point of discussion on social media. After his amazing innings, former England skipper, Michael Vaughan praised Kohli and said he is best to watch when he bats with the flow. Vaughan on Twitter said, “At his best, he is still the best player in the world to watch. Virat Kohli makes batting look so easy.” He further also praised Bangalore and said they look dangerous this season.

Meanwhile, responding to his comments, South Africa legend Herschelle Gibbs also backed Kohli and said that even if he is not in flow he is the best in the world. Quoting Vaughan’s tweets, Gibbs said, “Even when he’s not at his best, there’s still nobody better currently than Virat.” Notably, Kohli has been phenomenal in the last few months. He has scored more than 1500 in all formats since Asia Cup 2022.

‘Bangalore can win the trophy’ – Michael Vaughan backs Bangalore

After their comfortable win against five times Champion, Mumbai, Vaughan backed Bangalore to win the Indian T20 League. While speaking with a broadcaster, Vaughan said, “I think Bangalore, one day, will win this IPL. They will do it, and they have got enough in the tank in terms of experience. I think Reece Topley is going to be a big miss. That looks like a bad injury with that shoulder.”

He further stated, “But they’ve certainly got the experience and the players. But as we know from history, that doesn’t take you to win a trophy, but surely now they’re back at home, and that ground is such a great ground for them, and they know how to play there. I’m sure they will get to that top four, and then who knows what will happen at the end.”
