In the third Test of the ongoing five-match series against England in Rajkot, Sarfaraz Khan became the 311th Test player to represent India, marking his debut in the national team colors. However, it wasn’t just Sarfaraz who grabbed attention; his father, Naushad Khan, also made his debut in the commentary box, sharing a moment in the spotlight. In the recent past, Sarfaraz Khan’s father has been pretty much vocal about his son’s struggle and the efforts that the duo has put together.
Sarfaraz Khan’s inclusion in the Indian cricket team is the culmination of years of dedication and hard work, supported by his father and coach, Naushad Khan. As Sarfaraz was presented with his Test cap by Anil Kumble, emotions ran high, with Naushad and Sarfaraz’s wife embracing him, their tears mirroring the significance of the occasion. In the commentary the ace commentator, Aakash Chopra asked Sarfaraz’s father how long did they all wait for making debut.
“Raat ko waqt chahiye guzarne ke liye, lekin Suraj meri marzi se nahi nikalne wala (it takes time for the night to pass, the sun is not going to rise according to my wish),” Naushad Khan said.
Aakash Chopra – did you wait for too long to see Sarfaraz Khan making his debut?
