Bangalore and Lucknow locked horns in the Indian T20 League 2022 Eliminator at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The KL Rahul-led side won the toss and elected to bowl first. The team had a great start as Mohsin Khan took the wicket of opposition skipper Faf du Plessis (0), who was caught behind by Quinton de Kock in the first over.

Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar stitched a partnership of 66 runs before the former was caught at third man by Mohsin Khan off Avesh Khan. Kohli scored 25 off 24 balls including two fours. Glenn Maxwell (nine off 10) tried to play big shots on every ball before he perished in the 11th over. He was caught at deep square leg by Evin Lewis off Krunal Pandya.

Mahipal Lomror came and played a cameo of 14 off nine balls including two fours. He was caught at short cover by skipper KL Rahul off Ravi Bishnoi in the 14th over. Patidar hit the first century of his Indian T20 League career in the 18th over.

Dinesh Karthik’s (37 off 23) strong finish and Patidar’s 54-ball 112 took the team to a competitive total of 207/4. Karthik hit five fours and a six while Patidar hit 12 fours and seven sixes. For Lucknow, only Mohsin Khan (4-0-25-1) was economical while others went on a journey. In reply, the KL Rahul-led side had a poor start as De Kock was caught at mid-on by Du Plessis off Mohammed Siraj in the first over.

Manan Vohra came and scored 19 off 11 balls including one four and two sixes. He was caught at midwicket by Shahbaz Ahmed off Josh Hazlewood in the fifth over. At 41/2, skipper Rahul and Deepak Hooda stitched a partnership of 96 runs but it didn’t help the team. The required rate crept up to more than 13. Hooda (45) was clean bowled by Wanindu Hasaranga in the 15th over.

Marcus Stoinis scored a run-a-ball nine before he was caught at deep extra cover by Patidar off Harshal Patel. Rahul’s (79) wicket in the penultimate wicket sealed the fate for the team as they were restricted to 193/6 losing the game by 14 runs.
