Bangalore and Lucknow faced each other in the Indian T20 League 2022 Eliminator game at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. After winning the toss, the Indian T20 League debutants elected to bowl first. Little did they know how much this decision was going to cost them. However, they did start well with Mohsin Khan taking the wicket of Faf du Plessis in the first over.

Former skipper Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar took the team to 70 runs in the eighth over. Kohli (25) couldn’t carry on with the form he gained in the last league game against Gujarat, and got out to Avesh Khan. Glenn Maxwell (9) came in, and he seemed like he wanted to hit every ball for a boundary, but could only hit one six in his 10-ball stay.

Mahipal Lomror started well during his innings, but his knock was cut short by Ravi Bishnoi. Meanwhile, Patidar completed the first century of his Indian T20 League career in the 18th over with a six against Mohsin Khan. Patidar and Dinesh Karthik scored 90 runs in the last six overs to take the team to 207/4. For Lucknow, only Mohsin Khan bowled well as the others had a bad day.

In reply, the Lucknow-based franchise had a poor start as Quinton de Kock got out early. Manah Vohra came and started well with 11-ball 19 but his inning was cut after the tame dismissal at midwicket. Skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda added 96 runs for the third wicket.

Hooda scored 45 off just 26 balls including four sixes and a six before he got out to Wanindu Hasaranga. KL Rahul tried his best to reach the target with an innings of 79 off 58 balls with five sixes and three fours. However, Harshal Patel conceded only eight runs in the 18th over to put the pressure back on the opposition.

Josh Hazlewood took the advantage of it and took back-to-back wickets of Rahul and Krunal Pandya to seal the deal for the team. Lucknow lost the game by 14 runs.
