Ahead of the semifinals of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, the Indian team and players have gained a lot in the latest ODI rankings. Star batter Shubman Gill and pacer Mohammad Siraj become the No. 1 batter and bowler, respectively. Their amazing performances have helped India qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing tournament.
Gill replaced Pakistan skipper Babar Azam from the top position, as he was there for more than 950 days. However, Babar’s mediocre performance in the ongoing tournament has helped Gill conquer the top position. It’s worth noting that Gill now has 830 rating points, while Babar has 824. This year Gill has been phenomenal with the bat, as he is the highest run scorer in ODI in 2023.
In the meantime, Mohammed Siraj, who has made a significant impact with the ball in ODIs this year, began the World Cup steadily but gradually gained momentum. He put on a remarkable performance against Sri Lanka, the same team he had dismantled in the final of the Asia Cup, with a remarkable six-wicket haul in September. He replaced Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi to clinch the top position in the rankings.
Virat Kohli makes a comeback in the top 5
The highest run-scorer for India in the ongoing tournament, Virat Kohli, has also made a significant comeback in the rankings. Kohli made his comeback in the top five batters. With 770 rating points, he is now the fourth-ranked ODI batter. Apart from him, India skipper Rohit Sharma is also in the top 10, as he is the sixth-ranked ODI batter with 739 rating points.
In the bowling department, apart from Siraj, three more Indian bowlers are in the top 10. With 661 rating points, spinner Kuldeep Yadav is in 4th place. On the other hand, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami are in 8th and 10th positions, respectively. They have 654 and 635 rating points, respectively. Meanwhile, star Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja makes a comeback in the top 10 too. He is now the 10th-ranked ODI all-rounder with 225 rating points.
