The Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) Season 2 has been one of the most difficult e-sports tournaments till now. It has offered some amazing close contests that have tested the patience, grit, and skill of the players. Some experienced teams like Team Soul, Blind Esports, and OR Esports have dominated the tournament, while others like Team Godlike and Revenant Esports have failed to impress fans.
Both Team Godlike and Revenant Esports are on the verge of elimination as they have yet to fire in the tournament. Godlike faced a challenging BGMS Season 2, delivering subpar performances across all three stages: Launch Week, League Week 1, and League Week 2. A key factor in their challenge was the absence of star fragger Jonathan due to health issues. With a total of 41 points from BGMS Season 2 Launch Week, Team Godlike remains in the playoff race.
However, the team will be hoping for other teams to perform badly, as if they perform better and take over them, then they will be eliminated from the tournament. On Day 4 of League Week 2, Team Godlike earned only 3 points in two games and failed to improve their position in the points table. They are currently 8th in the table and will be looking at the bottom two teams to deliver the worst possible performance.
Why did Godlike fail to capitalise on the opportunity?
Team Godlike’s failure to capitalise on the opportunity can be attributed to several crucial moments in the matches. In Match 2 on Sanhok, they faced an unexpected ambush. Despite securing their usual drop on Pai Nan and initially positioning themselves well, the team faced an unexpected setback when the circle shifted away from their central zone placement. Their movement into the new zone proved fatal as they were ambushed by WSB Gaming, leading to their elimination with only 1 finish point and 1 placement point.
The struggles continued in Match 3 on Erangel. The team suffered early eliminations as key players, Godlike Neyoo and Godlike Zgod, were caught off guard by Global Esports. Subsequent misplays left them vulnerable, resulting in Godlike Spower being isolated and eliminated by the Orangutan. With only Godlike Shadow remaining, their hopes were dashed when OR Esports eliminated him in 11th place, securing just 1 placement point.
These instances of being caught off guard, poor rotations, and untimely eliminations plagued Team Godlike’s performance, preventing them from seizing the opportunity to secure better standings in the league. This might prove to be their last match in the season, as if the bottom two teams perform better and secure the upper position, it will be the end of the road for Team Godlike.
