In game seven during the first-ever Major League Cricket (MLC) season, Texas Super Kings (TSK) captain Faf du Plessis made a fantastic athletic grab in the outfield to get rid of MI New York (MINY) finisher Tim David.
On Monday, July 17, the highly anticipated matchup between the two fierce IPL rival franchise-owned teams (Chennai Super Kings & Mumbai Indians) took place in Dallas’ Grand Prairie Stadium. Both sides had a victory and a loss in their first two games coming into the match.
Du Plessis, who won the toss and chose to bat first, struggled with the bat even though the Super Kings amassed a modest score of 154/7 during their 20 overs. With an outstanding 74 off 55 deliveries, Devon Conway headed the innings and took the team to this total which was enough on that tricky pitch.
MI New York stumble in the chase
TSK’s balanced bowling and fielding efforts allowed MINY to get off to a decent start but some great bowling with accurate lines and lengths helped Texas Super Kings to regain control of the game. MI New York stumbled their way to a score of 137/8 and missed the chance to clinch the game and go top as they were defeated by 18 runs.
Tim David, who was the only hope for MI New York when half their side was back in the pavilion, tried to do his best to take his side home. He incorrectly timed a full slower ball outside off by Daniel Sams with 21 needed off the last over. Although it appeared to be destined towards no-man’s land, Du Plessis had something else in mind as he rushed in along the long-on boundary and took a spectacular catch.
After collecting four points from three games, TSK moved to the top spot in the points table by defeating MI New York by 17 runs as a result of their effort. MI New York just like their sister franchise have gotten off to a shaky start to their campaign.
