At Dallas’ Grand Prairie Stadium on Sunday, the Washington Freedom overcame the Texas Super Kings by six runs during the fifth game of Major League Cricket (MLC). The Washington Freedom scored 163/5 in their 20 overs before holding the Texas Super Kings to 157/7.
Devon Conway was bowled out by Marco Jansen in the opening over of Washington Freedom’s 164-run defence, giving them a flawless start with the ball. The Super Kings were in serious trouble at 21/2 when skipper Faf du Plessis who scored just a mere 14 gave away his wicket to Saurabh Netravalkar during the fourth over.
After quickly returning David Miller (14), Milind Kumar (3), and Lahiru Milantha (15) to the pavilion, Dane Piedt and Akeal Hosein made things worse for the Texas Super Kings. At 50/5 after 8.5 overs, the Super Kings found themselves in trouble. Mitchell Santner hit a couple of sixes off Piedt’s deliveries during the 12th over, however, Moises Henriques also bowled him out for 22 in the 14th over. 78/6 in 14 overs for TSK.
The Dwayne Bravo show
Nevertheless, Dwayne Bravo put everything onto his own shoulders by launching a barrage of boundaries plus sixes to keep the Super Kings alive in the game. He scored 56 runs in 33 balls, which reduced the equation to 27 runs in 6 balls.
Bravo scored 10 runs off the first three pitches of the last over, but Washington Freedom’s Anrich Nortje expertly ended the game. Bravo scored an impressive 76* in only 39 balls, which included five fours as well as six sixes.
Dwayne Bravo showed the world why he is one of the most renowned and popular T20 all-rounders in the game even at the age of 36. Even with this close loss, Texas Super Kings have a healthy run rate and sit comfortably in third position with two points to their name. They now face a buoyant MI New York who are coming off a massive victory in their previous game against the LA Knight Riders.

The one thing I wish never happened was that Rusty Theron no ball. Even if we in some alternate universe didn't get the wicket we still wouldn't have conceded 7 runs which is what made us lose today. On to the next match though!
