India and Gujarat Titans opening batter, Shubman Gill is having a dream IPL season in the ongoing 2023 edition. After playing 16 games, he has 851 runs to his name averaging 60.78 and a strike rate of 156.43 including three hundreds and four fifties. His three centuries have come in the last four games, two in the league stage and one in Qualifier Two.
Meanwhile, during the second Qualifier against Mumbai Indians, Gill was having a chat with master blaster and MI mentor, Sachin Tendulkar. Apparently, after the first innings, the right-hander, Gill was substituted for Josh Little. During GT’s defense against MI, the 2018 U19 World Cup winner went to MI’s dugout to have a chat with Tendulkar. The image of the same has been going viral on social media.

Shubman Gill’s storm blows away Mumbai Indians
Meanwhile, before being substituted, the opening batter blew away the five-time winners. After being asked to bat first, the home team, the Titans had a steady start in the first four overs. However, from the fifth over till he got out in the 17th over, Shubman punished the MI bowlers. He amassed 129 off 60 balls including 10 sixes and seven fours. Thanks to support from Sai Sudarshan (43) and skipper Hardik Pandya (28*), the team reached a daunting total of 233/3.
In reply, the former champions had some chance, thanks to Tilak Verma (43), Cameron Green (30), and Suryakumar Yadav (61). However, with Mohit Sharma taking five wickets and others chipping in, the team lost the game by 62 runs.
“Playing ball-to-ball, assessing the situation is important. The over I hit three sixes is where I felt it was my day. It was a good wicket to bat on and I wanted to maximise scoring. (On six hitting) Not a conscious decision, you want to keep evolving. Belief is more important, helps when you’re coming off a good international season,” Player of the Match Shubman Gill said
“Shubman’s clarity and amazing innings is what’s keeping him on top. He wasn’t rushed or not in control at any point. He’s a superstar who will do big things for the franchise and the country,” GT skipper Hardik Pandya said in the post match.
