In what has come as a massive blow for team India, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The spinner is set to undergo knee surgery which will keep him away from the game for an indefinite period of time. Ravindra Jadeja, recently, was ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 after having played the first two matches for India against Pakistan and Hong Kong.
The 33-year-old all-rounder ability brings a great balance to the team owing to his ability to contribute with both bat and ball. Notably, Jadeja has been suffering from his knee problem for quite some time. Earlier, an injury to the same joint had forced him to miss the ODI series against West Indies in West Indies.
The left-arm spinner will now miss the upcoming T20 series against Australia and England and won’t be available for the T20 World Cup 2022 as well. Ravindra Jadeja made a valuable contribution for India in the first two matches played in the Asia Cup.
In the first match against Pakistan, he was promoted to bat at number four. He was involved in a match-winning partnership with Hardik Pandya and contributed 35 runs in 29 balls. In the next match against Hong Kong, Jadeja accounted for the wicket of Babar Hayat and conceded only 15 runs in his four-over spell.
As for the remainder of the Asia Cup 2022, India have roped in Axar Patel as a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja. There is no denying that Jadeja is a vital cog in the Indian team as far as white ball cricket is concerned. His absence will hurt India’s chances badly in the T20 World Cup 2022. With not much time left for the tournament to begin, India have certainly dealt with a big blow.
India have a replacement option in Axar Patel, who can do a similar job for them. However, it won’t be wrong to say that Ravindra Jadeja’s brings a lot more to the table as compared to any other Indian spin all-rounder present in the country.
